INNOVATION DISTRICT

A truly innovative district innovates not just individual elements, but design at a system level. This project possesses a goal to question even the most standard elements of a city. Through the eyes of eight defined principles, this is a conceptual example of an innovation district.

open source street

This proposal is to make a flexible space that allows for our society’s transition into technologically advanced built environments. The project calls for a complete redesign of the conventional street structure. To allow for maximum adjustability, it should be a digital street. Thus, allowing live updates and an open-source concept.

permeable edge

Upon visiting the campus of Fort Valley State University, one of the first things noticed is the non-locatable entrances and the border wall surrounding the campus. The compromise of a permeable edge seemed like a probable solution. A permeable edge is one that is easily passed through at many locations. It allows the feel of an open campus without taking away a sense of protection.
